For a while I had an icing obsession, so I made a giant sugar mouse.
The mouse weighed over a whopping thirty kilograms, and became a beautifully embarrassing, huge, shy, gentle creature. We’ve all felt like that at times. Once made, the sugar mouse was wheeled for 10 miles to Altrincham on the tram to a nursery school. A class of under-threes ate and licked, poked and picked, drew and played with the mouse until it was destroyed.
Sometimes I wonder, does the memory of the giant sugar mouse remain in those young minds.
